Sometimes I feel like there's an overemphasis on the whole love thing. Like it should be more than that.

I don't really know what that means, but it seems like there's just too much love and not enough of the whole, sharing the Gospel thing.

I'm not saying street preaching is a good idea, or bible thumping or bullhorn guy. Yeah, actions speak louder than words, but there has to be some place for talking. Not just loving.

Jesus told people about a better way to live, then lived it out. Shouldn't we be doing the same? Not just doing it, but telling people about it as well?

(I feel really reformationish saying that. Sorry.)

the whole "love-thing" is where everything that you do and say flows from. Paul said it best, "If I have not love I am a resounding gong or a clanging symbol." Actions without words is just liberal social justice; love without actions is limp-wristed Christianity, also known as "church."

much of the emphasis in the actual message was on living this way. the foundation of that way of life is love, regardless of what you do, say, think, etc. it all has to flow from the image of God (who IS love) inside you. we are being transformed into the kind of people who don't do loving things, but are actually LOVE itself. this is the image we are called to bear.

I've always felt like all those adjectives listed in 1Corinthians 13 are supposed to describe us. And I feel like I'm doing a really sucky job of it most of the time...

i heard someone say once that you can replace the word "love" in that passage with the word "God." try it. you'll find a very good picture of God i think. and if God is that way then we should be too. if we love those those things flow naturally from us.
